You’ve probably never thought too deeply about how your tequila comes to be, but it’s pretty crazy to think that Mexico’s greatest export would cease to exist without the help of bats.

Yes, those creepy, winged creatures that inspired the greatest super hero of all time, have a huge role in the tequila-making process.

According to National Geographic, bats pollenate the agave plants from which your precious tequila comes from.

So basically, without bats, those drunken tequila nights where your tio Enrique danced with a bar stool for six hours would have never happened.
