How To Make Onion Rings Breaded With Warm, Soft Pretzels

Anyone can make regular breaded onion rings, but it takes a special kind of genius to bread them with a warm, soft pretzel.

Nick Chipman from Dude Foods was pretty efficient when coming up with this one as he said he used the leftover dough from some insane Macaroni and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Balls he made.

“I looked over and saw a sweet onion sitting on my kitchen counter staring back at me all bored-like so I said ‘Oh hey sweet onion, why don’t me, you and this pretzel dough get a little crazy and make some onion rings?'”

He essentially just wrapped the dough around the onions and boiled them. He also revealed that the secret to a pretzel-like consistency is baking powder.

Chipman is getting pretty good at flipping some crazy onion rings as in the past he’s shown us Bacon-Wrapped Doritos Onion Rings and Kool-Aid Onion Rings. Can’t wait to see what the hell else he wraps around onion rings.

Check out his post on Dude Foods for the full, step-by-step recipe.
