Running Italy Diary: Chianti Wine Tour

The Chianti Wine Tour I went on was the best day I spent in Italy. I had only one hour of sleep the night before and it was still fantastic. We got to sample several wines and dine on some great Italian cuisine.

The scenery was straight from a travel magazine.

The locals?

This was our wine expert from Cali.

Cheers!

Red, red wine

Letting it breathe

We got to sample some olive oil too.

Aged bottles

This was the second vineyard we got to tour.

Where the magic happens

Sweet wine

More wine

Some more olive oil

The restaurant we went to was a small, family-owned place. We sat outside and I had the best Italian meal there.

Everything was served family style. They just brought more, and more food out.

Fried dough

Sausage and onion crostinis

Tomato, eggplant and herb pasta

Tomato and sausage penne

Apple and rum cake

Italian coffee is pretty legit, just saying.

There are not many days you can call perfect, but this was one of them. The setting, weather, food and company was amazing. I wouldn’t change one thing. If there could be a day I would want on repeat for the rest of my life, that day would be it.
