Budweiser Loyalist Shoots Buddy With 20-Gauge Shotgun Over His Beer Choice

Is a Busch worth shooting a long-time friend over? According to one loyal Budweiser drinker, absolutely.

The incident occurred March 7 between Clarence Sturdivant, 64, and Walter Merrick, 66, at the apartment building where the two live. According to the Times-Picayune, the neighbors were having a friendly chat when Sturdivant asked Merrick for a beer.

When the latter returned with a Busch, the two got into a heated argument over which brands they prefer. The argument ended when Sturdivant fired at Merrick with a 20-gauge shotgun. According to Sturdivant, it was Merrick who first pointed a gun at him.

Merrick was treated for puncture wounds in his arm and chest from small shotgun pellets. According to authorities, his injuries were not life-threatening.

Sturdivant claimed self-defense, but he was arrested on unrelated charges.
