Major Chain Gives Zero Fucks That Their Double Donut Burger is Almost 2,000 Calories
The UK’s Hungry Horse Pub has released a 1,966-calorie Double Donut burger throughout its more-than 200 restaurants. Those in the know might call this the Luther Burger and know that it heavily induces the Itis, but it’s pretty insane that a big chain went balls out and put this on their menu.
This burger replaces the regular ol’ bun with two grilled glazed donuts. Inside are two beef burgers topped with melted cheese, four smoked streaky bacon rashers and BBQ sauce.
According to Mashable, the Double Donut’s 1,966 calories would make up 98 percent of a woman’s recommended daily calorie intake and 79 percent of a male’s recommended intake. If you pair the burger with a beer, you’ll easily go over 2,000 calories.
Now, to give you a better visual of how much 2,000 calories actually is, if you somehow downed an entire 40-piece of McDonald’s McNuggets, it would be 1,880 calories. That’s still 86 less calories than this donut burger. Even KFC’s Double Down, as crazy as it looks, is only 540 calories. You could eat three Double Downs and it would still be less calories than this burger.
Of course, this burger has ruffled some feathers.
According to BBC, Mel Wakeman, senior lecturer in Applied Physiology at Birmingham City University, said:
“To me, this is simply ludicrous and irresponsible. I am no killjoy but why is this sort of food available? Why can’t they include on the menu what the customer would need to do to burn all those calories off? In the case of this Double Donut Burger, around three hours of continuous running should just about do it. I wonder how many people would still opt for the item knowing this?”
Daily Mail made the graphic below showing how many calories, fat, saturated fat, salt, sugar, carbohydrates and protein the burger has. They then put it side-by-side with the daily recommended intake of each of those for an adult woman in the UK.
A spokesman for Hungry Horse said that their menu caters to several different tastes and the nutritional info for all their menu items are available on their web site.
It still looks pretty solid though. Would you guys be down for this calorie-crazy burger?
