Unfortunately, Pizza Hut ISN’T Giving Away Free Hamsters
A Pizza Hut store in Australia created the illusion that if you bought 10 pizzas, you could get a cute little pet for free. Turns out that wasn’t the case at all.
Daily Mail reported that the sign put up by the store in Melbourne read, “Buy any 10 large pizzas and get one free small animal from Pets Story.” Apparently the sign wasn’t proofread and it was supposed to say that customers would receive a free animal “kit.” What they meant by kit was something like a hamster cage, or a fish tank when buying a specific amount of pizza.
As you can imagine, as excited as some were to try and get a free pet, there were some who were equally pissed off and called for a Pizza Hut boycott. After the customary shit storm on Twitter, Pizza Hut promptly apologized. Then Pets Story made it clear that they work with animal rescue groups and would never just hand out kittens and hamsters.
It has come to our attention that one of our stores have recently been running a promotion which was not approved… https://t.co/x1vX1wU78l

The sign was taken down, everyone apologized and order was restored in the pizza world. But you can’t help but feel this was as disappointing as seeing a WWF commercial saying you can adopt a tiger, and only receiving a plush toy and a certificate.
