Report: Which Fast Food Chain Has The Fastest Wi-Fi?
The next time you chug your morning Starbucks, you’ll be happy to know that their Wi-Fi can keep up with your caffeine rush.
According to a report by OpenSignal, Starbucks’ Wi-Fi is the fastest by any major chain. Starbucks clocked in an average of 9.1 megabits per second, while McDonald’s clocked in at a little over 4 Mbps. Both blow away Panera Bread’s Wi-Fi, which averaged around 1 Mbps.
OpenSignal gathered data from its mobile app users and compared the speeds between the user’s provided mobile internet and the Wi-Fi they used. That process showed that Starbucks’ download speeds were also faster than the average 4G LTE speeds, which were clocked at 5.6 Mbps. Something good to know for those with data limits on their phones.
If for some reason you can’t find a Starbucks (like that’ll ever happen), Ronald McDonald and the gang still had the second fastest recorded Wi-Fi on the list, which was still significantly faster than other food chains Tim Horton’s and Dunkin’ Donuts.
So if you ever have a to make last minute adjustments to that term paper that’s due in 20 minutes, you’d probably want to run to Starbucks first.
