This Alarm Clock Wakes You Up with a Cup of Freshly-Brewed Coffee

The haunting blare of our alarm clocks is the bane of many mornings. One man has risen to this daily occasion to bring the masses something a little less mediocre. Looking to create a system that both wakes you up and eliminates the haphazard rush to find/make coffee in the morning, British designer Joshua Renouf crafted the “Barisieur”.

The sleekly-designed alarm clock doubles as a coffee maker that automatically brews a cup of coffee the moment you wake up. Simply load the grounds, sugar, and milk the night before and set the timer — from there the Barisieur will heat the water and brew a fresh mug for you the next day. Oh, and that insufferable ringing? It’s been replaced with a soothing sound of stainless steel ball bearings that also boil the water via induction heating.

Renouf notes that prepping the ingredients the night before may help users sleep more soundly. “It encourages a ritual before going to sleep, signalling to the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax,” he writes. “Living slow even when times are fast.”
