Disney World Launching ‘Food Truck Land’ for Summer 2014
One of the neat things about Disney World is that if you really wanted to (and didn’t mind the heat or screaming children), you wouldn’t ever have to leave. It has everything: entertainment, two Starbucks locations, even a nigh-inexhaustible range of low and high-brow dining options. Oh, and food trucks. D-World’s got those down pat too.
Still, for anyone who’d rather not wander around to find them, Disney World will be installing a new permanent home later this summer for its line of four themed food trucks, each inspired by a different “land” in the Mouse-y playground. They are:
Superstar Catering, based on Disney’s Hollywood Studios and serving up very L.A.-friendly fare like spinach and feta meatball sandwiches;
Namaste Cafe, inspired by Animal Kingdom and slinging Asian eats like tandoori shrimp and beef short ribs;
World Showcase of Flavors, for Epcot, with its wines and beef sliders and lobster rolls and pierogies, and finally,
Fantasy Fare, the little red Fantasyland truck serving Disney’s iconic hand-dipped corn dogs, as well as a croque monsieur and glass noodle salad.
The new Food Truck Park will pop up on the West Side of the Downtown Disney shopping district in Disney World, which is currently undergoing a remodeling as it transitions into Disney Springs — “a high-energy destination that will double the retail and offer innovative new dining options” at Disney World, according to the press release.
Unfortunately, because the Food Truck Park will technically be outside the actual theme parks, there’s slim chance it’ll feature any impressively detailed set pieces or singing animatronics, but they will have chicken and waffles. Which is pretty close.
