This Distillery is Raising Whiskey-Flavored Pigs

3

Bacon and bourbon go together like donuts and cannolis. The pairing is magical. As luck would have it, Templeton Rye Distillery is taking this former union one step further by breeding whisky pigs.

That’s right, folks – pork that tastes like liquor. Well, sort of. Near Templeton’s Iowa location, 25 purebred Duroc pigs are being fed distillery grains used in whiskey-making in hopes they’ll have a distinctive whiskey flavor.

These pigs are set to be available to the public in June or July. So if you’re interested in trying this boozy pork, the company is now accepting pig requests on their Templeton Rye Pork Project site.
