Dominique Ansel Makes Next-Level ‘Garden’ Pot de Crème

After debuting chocolate chip cookie shot glasses filled with milk at SXSW, Dominique Ansel whipped up yet another dessert invention simply named “The Garden.” Ansel teased fans via Instagram with the above photo, along with a caption describing its sweet innards: “milk chocolate mousse with brownie base, feuilletine ‘soil’ and mint gelee.” The new item comes topped with a sprig of mint and a chocolate lady bug.

The Garden was inspired by pot de crème, as Ansel “thought of his ‘pot’ as more of a flower pot, and built up the idea for the garden from that,” reps told Eater. The chocolate craving will join Dominique Ansel Bakery’s Spring menu rolling out this Friday, March 28. Also, keep an eye out for a Key Lime Juniper Tart — an interactive dessert that lets patrons sprinkle on a Maldon sea salt and brown sugar mix, then squeeze fresh lime on top — and a Rose Pomegranate Tart with a crystallized rose petal that transforms from white to pink as customers drizzle on rose water.
