Finally, a Portable, Hand-Held Apple Pie Cone
One of my few gripes with apple pies, with the exception of the McDonald’s variation, is that you can’t really eat it in your car. However, if it were in a hand-held cone, that would be a different story. Nick from Dude Foods put that problem to bed with his latest creation: the apple pie cone.
First, he made a standard pie crust and wrapped it around a funnel-shaped object (he used the one that came with a waffle maker). Nick then trimmed the extra dough off the mold, which he set aside to make the lattice. Afterwards, the empty cone was placed upside down inside a cookie sheet and baked for 10 minutes at 400 degree F. Afterwards, the cone is cooled for a few minutes and the apple pie filling is added. Finally, Nick topped the pie with the lattice and returned it to the oven (right side up) for another 10 minutes.
Though it may take a few times to get the hang of it, the apple pie cone concept is brilliant. Once you master it, you could fill your pies with pretty much anything and take it with you on the go.
