Four Loko Black Market: Punishable by 3 Years in Prison

NBC New York recently took to local Craigslist listings and the streets to come up on some coveted stock of Four Loko. After the ban, cans of the caffeinated malt liquor saw a price increase from an original $2 – $3 to $4 – $8 a can. Horders and stockpilers immediately jumped on the chance to purchase up any stock local liquor stores had left, in the hopes of flipping the cans at a markup in the near future.

Selling liquor without a license, along with the “banned substance” nature of the Loko in question, may be punishable by up to 3 years in prison, according to sources in the NBC New York segment. The news reporter ends up purchasing a case of 12 cans of Fruit Punch Four Loko for $80.
