Four Loko and Similar Drinks Being Turned Into Ethanol

In the wake of high profile FDA warnings targeting alcoholic beverages that have also been laced with caffeine, cases of unsold Four Loko have begun shipping to a plant in Virginia that will be distilling the drink, and selling the remains to be blended into gasoline. MXI Environmental Services, the company handling the truckloads of shipments of Loko, claims their facilities are set up to handle the processing of four truckloads of liquid a day (Four Loko and other drinks falling under FDA warnings), and they are running at full capacity. Good to know the disposal of these “hazardous” beverages are being recycled in such an economical fashion. (Via Salon)
