Dunkin’ Donuts Encourages Families to Eat Mother’s Heart For Mother’s Day

Dunkin’ Donuts is rolling out their specially-baked “Mother’s Heart” donut again just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day. The heart-shaped pastry is filled with Bavarian Kreme and topped with strawberry icing and adorable heart-shaped sprinkles, making it the perfect part of some good old-fashioned mommy appreciation. There’s just one catch: Last year, moms got these donuts for free. This year, everyone pays full price.

Now, we’re not super familiar with donut etiquette, but we’re pretty sure that charging moms for a donut that was free a year ago is a little unfair. First we were upset about it (who cheats innocent moms out of a donut?!) . . . and then we realized that Dunkin’ Donuts is charging people money to line up and eat “Mom’s Heart” while celebrating Mother’s Day. Which doesn’t sound creepy at all. We’re not going to make any judgements about Dunkin’ Donuts’ mommy issues, but we’re going to need a few more handfuls of heart-shaped sprinkles to get on board with this one.
