Pop-Tarts World: A Concept Cafe/Shop in Time Square

As a society, it’s safe to say most of us are familiar with the ever popular Kellogg’s brand Pop-Tarts. The made-for-breakfast, but good-practically-any-other-time-of-day snack has spanned generations, 4 just over 4 decades in fact. Come Tuesday, August 10th 2010, Pop-Tarts World will become a tangible, completely experienceable 3,200 square foot shop in New York. Times Square will host this concept-shop of sorts, with the main attraction of the festivities being the cafe serving up a menu of Pop-Tart-centered treats. Examples of some dishes range from Fluffer Butter (marshmallow spread sandwiched between two Pop-Tarts frosted fudge pastries) and Ants on a Log (a twist on the celery/peanutbutter/raisin classic, but utilizing celery, peanut butter and chunks of Wild Grape Pop-Tart). Pop-Tarts sushi even gets a nod, consisting of a three kinds of Pop-Tarts ground up and encased in a fruit roll-up (all the classics are in effect!).

Another highlight of the menu is the ability to create your own custom Pop-Tart. Taking head of Subway‘s tactics, customers will be able to start with a basic pastry and indicate to servers what frosting, toppings and drizzle they’d like on their Pop-Tart. Then they have the option of having their treat frozen, toasted, microwaved or uncooked.

Lightshows will also be a part of the allure of the store, along with a special touch-screen vending machine that allows its end-user to create custom packs of Pop-Tarts and get them boxed up. Pop-Tarts having their own flagship store. Who knew? (Thx NYTimes)
