Five Guys Burger and Fries: Orange County, CA

Orange County can now rejoice…or at least have an opportunity to do so. While the west coast of the United States has long raved and to an extent, shown off, In-N-Out burger and its availability, up until recently the East Coast has had a burger chain that they protected with similar urgency…Five Guys Burger & Fries. For those unfamiliar with the east coast chain, this is actually not their first California location (a location in Los Angeles takes the cake), but it is indeed their first presence in Orange County.

But don’t let the comparisons fool you, the quick-serve restaurant has proven itself to be anything but In-N-Out. Some striking differences will include the lack of a drive thru (making this more like a faster The Counter). The restaurant also has a relatively broader menu and scoffs at the simplicity available (or not available) at In-N-Out. Burger toppings (free!) range from mayo, relish and jalapeno peppers to grilled mushrooms and A-1 sauce. The burger offerings also encompass notable bacon choices, something that some fanatical critics of In-N-Out have been mentioning for years. Hot dogs, sandwiches and different styles of french fries are also available to round out the menu.

According to the Maven, the location will open Monday (August 2nd, 2010) at 11 a.m. If you’re trying to get your grub on, head over to 1549 E. Katella Avenue in Orange, CA and then come back and let everyone know what you thought!

PS: Hit us up on Twitter, Facebook or in the comments and let us know how Five Guys was, if you’re excited for the opening, not excited, or if you will stay true to your In-N-Out roots! Eat on foodbeasts!
