1000 Calorie Club: Fast Food Items That Clock in at 1000+ Calories

The USDA recommends that males between the age of 18 and 35 consume between 2200 (if sedentary) to 3200 (if active) calories a day on average. For females, they recommend between 1800 (if sedentary) to 2400 (if active).

There aren’t many fast food menu items that reach the 1,000 calorie mark, so we’re looking at a very select group on this list. However, if you’re very much “sedentary,” like I am, just consuming one of these foods takes up half your daily calorie intake in one fell swoop.

You can obviously add more to the calorie count with fountain drinks, or additional sides, but we’re going to try to keep that kind of stuff to a minimum and list the food as they are in each respective nutritional guide. For some, we crunched numbers to see how easy it is to reach 1,000 calories for a couple of these.

We might never get mistaken for personal trainers here at Foodbeast, but we do try to keep an eye on our health once in a while, so we don’t, like, die.

Burger King’s Farmhouse King-1,220 Calories

The Farmhouse King Burger is so caloric, when it was first released, Burger King didn’t even post a definitive calorie count on its site. We soon found out that the double patty burger with thick-cut smoked bacon, cheese, crispy onions, a signature sauce, and even a fried egg, clocked in at 1,220 calories.

__________

Chipotle Burritos and Burrito Bowls – 1,000 + Calories

chipotle

Obviously Chipotle gives you the option to customize your own meal, but we’re going to start off with pretty standard ingredients, and work up to see at what point the items surpass 1,000 calories. You can see for yourself, where your usual order stands.

Let’s start with a burrito. The flour tortilla, white rice and barbacoa meat stand at 650 calories. Pretty standard start, right? Now let’s add some pinto beans, 115 calories. (Black beans are 120 calories.) Now you’re at 765 calories, getting pretty close. How about their delicious guacamole? That’ll be an extra 200 calories, please. Now your burrito stands at 965 calories. You’re dangerously close to hitting the mark and it’s only four items. Oh, shoot, I forgot the cheese. That’s an extra 100 calories. There we go, 1,065 calories and we didn’t even try that hard!

The burrito bowl takes a little more work, but if you were to replace the barbacoa with carnitas, add some sour cream and chili-corn salsa, and you’re there at 1,015 calories.

__________

KFC 3-Piece Extra Crispy Chicken – 1,020 Calories

kfc chicken

Just for fun, let’s play around with KFC’s handy dandy calculator to see how many pieces of KFC chicken you’d have to eat to reach 1,000 calories. Their Original Recipe isn’t too crazy with its caloric value. If you ate one breast, one leg, and one thigh, it’d add up to 730 calories, which doesn’t meet our benchmark to join the club. However, if you labored through the same three pieces in their Extra Crispy recipe, the calories take a major leap to 1,020 calories. Now, if you just lost your job, or went through a terrible break up, hate your life and decide to eat a whole eight-piece bucket on your own, you’d reach about 2,460 calories. Hope things get better for you.

__________

McDonald’s 40-piece Chicken McNuggets – 1,880 Calories

Mcdonald's nuggets

Like the KFC entry, you probably aren’t expected to eat this much on your own, but we won’t judge. The 40-piece McNuggets are listed on the site’s official nutritional guide, and if you were to eat all 40, the calories would obviously add up. As is more conventional, if you eat this with a group, just know they’re nearly 2,000 calories being consumed between you all. Which may or may not be good.

__________

Burger King’s Ultimate Breakfast Platter – 1,450 Calories

burger king ultimate breakfast platter

This stacked breakfast item at Burger King definitely lives up to its name.

__________

McDonald’s Big Breakfast with Hotcakes – 1,090 Calories

mcdonalds-Big-Breakfast-with-Hotcakes-Regular-Size-Biscuit- (1)

Although it has similar contents as its Burger King counterpart, it’s 360 calories less.

__________

Panda Express’ Two-Item Combo – 350 to 1000 + calories

panda express

Now, there are many ways to do this, but let’s say at its worst, you can order a full side of chow mein, Beijing Beef, and Orange Chicken with Bacon and it’ll add up to 1,690 calories. To be fair, at its healthiest, you could get mixed veggies, broccoli beef and string bean chicken breast and it’ll add up to a light 350 calories. If you’re like me and get chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, and broccoli beef, it adds up to 1,020 calories.

__________

Subway Footlongs – 1000+ Calories

sub

If you stick to the 6-inch subs, then you don’t have to worry about your favorite Subway sammich surpassing our benchmark, but if you like to reach for that footlong, six of them actually reach 1,000 calories.

  • Big Hot Pastrami Footlong- 1,160 calories
  • Big Philly Cheesesteak- 1,000 calories
  • Chicken and Bacon Ranch Melt- 1,140 calories
  • Fritos Chicken Enchilada Melt- 1,160 calories
  • Spicy Tuna- 1,080 calories
  • Steak and Bacon Melt- 1,000 calories
