The Bacon Weave Taco Done Right
As Dude Foods notes, the bacon taco shell has been done before, however, it’s never been done right. Most bacon taco recipes take the “easy way out” and end up looking like a haphazard grade school project of paper mache meat. The result is a square-shaped shell that isn’t very taco-like, nor appetizing. And gosh, where’s the fun it that?
Of course, Nick — the man behind behind protein-style quesadillas, bacon nachos and the breadless bacon double cheeseburger — has taken it upon himself to show the masses how to create a proper bacon taco. Following the first steps of his quesadilla recipe, Nick began with a square bacon weave. After cooking the weave in the oven, he cut it into the shape of a circle, then hung it on a few kabob sticks before popping it back into the oven to fully cook. You can get the finer details on how to create this perfect bacon taco shell here.
While our bacon connoisseur made the solid choice of stuffing the finished product with the classic taco fillings — ground beef, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese, may we suggest taking it a step further? Use this baby as the outer-shell to the Doritos Locos Taco. Hey, don’t act like you weren’t one of the half billion who swooped up on a late-night DLT.
