Cheesy Garlic Bread Wins Lay’s ‘Do Us a Flavor’ Contest, Winner Receives $1 Million

The masses have spoken and declared “Cheesy Garlic Bread” the winner of Lay’s  “Do Us a Flavor” contest. The flavor beat out contenders, “Sriracha” and “Chicken & Waffles,” to win over fan taste buds. At least, apparently. I’m still a bit flabbergasted as to how ho-hum garlic bread could outdo the sweet fried taste of Chicken & Waffles. Or maybe I’m just a little heartbroken over the fact that I didn’t stock up on them before the contest ended. Shucks.

Regardless, the winning Cheesy Garlic Bread chips will be available nationwide for the remainder of 2013. The woman who initially came up with the flavor, Karen Weber-Mendham, will receive her choice of $1 million in prize money or 1 percent of the Cheesy Garlic Bread’s 2013 net sales (whichever is higher).
