TGI Fridays, known for for its Jack Daniels ribs and endless appetizers, is now trying to put its burgers in the limelight with a new “Buy a Burger, Give a Burger” social media offer.

The promotion let’s you give out a free burger, or sliders, to your friends through social media using a code on your receipt.

Although it might sound a little gimmicky, it’s probbly one of the most creative social media giveaways we’ve seen in a while.

“Fridays has a legacy of always being up for trying something new that makes guests happy,”  TGI Fridays chief marketing officer, Brian Gies, said. “We think giving our guests an innovative way to pay-a-burger forward, and the race to snag one of our digital burgers, allows friends to socialize in a new way, while being generous.”

The digital burger giveaway works like so:

Step 1: Buy a burger at Fridays.

Step 2: There will be a code on your receipt.

Step 3: Input the code at jumpburger.com

Step 4: You’ll have the option to share a post through Facebook, Twitter, or Email, with a link to redeem the free burger.

Step 5: Whichever of your friends clicks on the link first, gets the free burger.

They compare it to a jump ball in basketball — first one to get to the link, gets possession of a free Sicilian Stacked Burger, Smoke Stacked Burger, Jack Sliders, or a Spicy Chorizo Burger which is coming July 22.
We were given a code to send out to our followers, and although it doesn’t tell us who got the free burger, we know someone did, because this notification came up when we clicked on the link ourselves:

When you do successfully redeem the burger code, you get a picture like this:
