    The Barones Are Foodbeasts
    October 30th, 2008 | Features | By: Staff

It’s always entertaining to note Foodbeasts in our day-to-day observances of popular culture. Today I bring you the Barone family, the fictional cast of characters in the Emmy Award Winning show, “Everybody Loves Raymond”. For those unfamiliar, Ray Romano’s character, Ray Barone, is a man married to a wife who can’t cook and lives across the street from his two intrusive and annoying parents. One thing that is interesting to note, while the entire narrative is constructed by the comedic outcomes of family interplay, one of the driving forces behind the show’s character developments revolves around food. Here are a few choice short clips to enjoy! Make sure find a re-run time and get in tune with the Barone family!

    October 27th, 2008 | Features | By: Staff

Beef, get ready to meet your maker. This guy definitely belongs in the Foodbeast Hall of Fame. His name is Brad Sciullo and at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Pennsylvania he packed away a giant 20 pound hamburger in one sitting. The burger is called the Beer Barrel Belly Bruiser and weighed 15 pounds. It came with 5 pounds of toppings, including cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, banana peppers and a condiment assortment of mayonaisse, ketchup, mustard and relish. The pub sets the challenge time limit at 5 hours and Brad was able to finish in 4 hours and 39 minutes. His prize was 400 bucks, 3 t-shirts and a certificate celebrating him as the first challenger to polish off the Beer Barrel Bell Bruiser. Dude, we bow down. Click below to see plate cleaned, no lie! Free Taco Bell Tacos for Stolen Bases
    October 23rd, 2008 | Features | By: Staff

Tonight was the first game of the 2008 World Series and Philadelphia Phillies took down the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 3-2, due in part to some impressive pitching from Brad Lidge. To get their customers hyped for the biggest games in baseball, Taco Bell has launched a sweet promotion: Steal a Base. Steal a Taco. It’s pretty simple; if any player steals a base during a World Series Game, Taco Bell is going to hook up hungry fans all over America with a seasoned beef taco. That’s millions of free tacos across the country, and we have a 90ft. sprint by Devil Rays’ shortstop Jason Bartlett to thank. Here’s how it works: all you gotta do is stop by Taco Bell between 2-6pm local time on October 28 and request a free taco. Thanks Jason!

    October 16th, 2008 | Features, Sweets | By: Staff

If you’re not familiar with Red Mango frozen yogurt, they’re making sure that you waste no time getting familiar. We just got an official e-mail saying the following:

This Friday, October 17 from 12pm to 9pm, we’re offering a free small yogurt + one topping to each customer. The first 100 customers also receive a free Red Mango t-shirt!

    Red Mango - Laguna Niguel
27931 La Paz Rd. Ste. D
    Laguna Niguel, CA 92677
    Phone: (949) 448-8133
    Store Hours: 11am - 10pm Daily

Limit one free yogurt plus one topping per customer and one free t-shirt for the first 100 customers while supplies last. Offer valid only at Red Mango - Laguna Niguel.

Looks like when the economy is down, the answer is to give the most hard pressed neighborhoods free frozen yogurt…or in this case, give it to Laguna Niguel, and have inhabitants of hard pressed cities drive to Laguna Niguel to get their yogurt freedom. Regardless, it’s free eats. Stay healthy!

    Recession Session (3): Togo’s $1.99 Wednesdays
    October 8th, 2008 | Eats, Features | By: Staff

I think a good amount of people, including myself, forgot about how good a Togo’s sandwich actually is. Perhaps this offer hopes to revitalize those once adapt Togo’s minds by giving them an alternative to the dominant Subway and Quizno’s chains. Regardless, every Wednesday, you’ll be able to head in to Togo’s and get one six inch sub, for the much reduced price of: $1.99

The FastFoodMaven gives us a list of all the participating Togo’s, so make sure to check out your local spot and make sure it’s going down! Take that, recession!

Recession Session (2): $5 Subway at the Studio
    October 7th, 2008 | Adventures, Features | By: Staff

In our second installment of Recession Session, we’ve combined it with an Adventure as we re-visit the now staple “5 Dollar Footlongs” at Subway. To preface this endeavor, every couple of weeks me and Marc make an effort to check in with our friend Rudy at his work place (a local Orange County recording studio) to make sure the work-level is high, the drug-usage is at a reasonable minimum and their eating is proper. Of course we decided to eat fresh, and Rudy decided he would be the savior and document the adventure on his iPhone, so don’t mind the haphazard photography…just enjoy the eats!
