Jack In The Box Upgrades Burgers for 2012

San Diego-based Jack in the Box, Inc. is reportedly upgrading their burger patties. According to Chairwoman, CEO and President, Linda Lang said their new patties will have an “improved taste, texture and juiciness” over their current line-up. As part of the upgrade, the burgers will feature new buns and a new saucing procedure.

Following the success and improvements of other key menu items, such as their french fries, coffee, and bacon, the burgers are likely to feature promotions similar to this year’s $2.99 Jumbo Breakfast Platter, which encouraged customers to try their new bacon. Analysts have reported that as of October 2nd (which marks the end of their fourth quarter), their “sales were up 3.1%, compared with a 3.3% decline a year ago.”

Although the better burgers come at a time of rising beef and grocery costs, Jerry Rebel, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Jack in the Box Inc., was reported for stating that the company “will likely be a follower, not a leader on this,” in regards to their increasing menu prices.

Sounds like they might have a little more to cover for next year, but it still looks like they’ll reign as the kings of fast food value (college grads and undergrads, I’m looking right at you). Let’s just see what they have in store for us in the first quarter of 2012.
