Subway’s New Applewood Pulled Pork Is a Tasty Hot Mess

It probably isn’t Subway’s fault they haven’t had anything new in a while. After all, their particular clientele is probably a little stubborn, a little set in their ways, a little “Black Forest Ham on White Bread with Swiss Please, Never Toasted, No Onions, No Olives, Wham-Bam-and-ThankYouMa’am.”

But if you must break your sandwich rut (and we highly suggest you do), there’s really no better way to do it than with a bite of Subway’s latest Applewood Pulled Pork sandwich. Tender, sweet but not overbearing, and not at all dry or stringy, the meat is much improved by a drizzle of barbecue sauce and some salt and pepper, but would probably also go great with a little creamy sriracha sauce, pickles and pepperjack cheese.

Of course, it is only available for a limited time and you definitely don’t get as much meat on the actual sandwich as shown in the promotional image. But after you remind yourself it is Subway you’re eating, you shouldn’t be disappointed. Cross my heart, it’s at the very least still better than that god-awful Oven Roasted Chicken.

Check out some photos of one we managed to pick up from our Subway down the street:
