Sushi Helicopter Flies Meals to Your Table, May Chop Off a Finger or Two

Yo! Sushi, a popular chain in London, is testing a mini helicopter that delivers meals at a speed of up to 25 miles an hour. Apparently, that means it can travel at up to six times the speed of your average waiter.

The restaurant has dubbed the device the “iTray” and staff controls it via iPad. Food is simply loaded onto the tray, flown to a customer’s table up to 50 yards away and then flown back once guests have retrieved their meals.

While Yo! Sushi remains hopeful that their two sushicopters in operation at their Soho branch will prove successful enough to expand to all 64 UK locations next year, we’re a bit hesitant.

What prevents diners from accidentally bumping into it after a few shots of sake? If the iTray is currently in your path to the restroom and you really have to go, do you politely wait for it to pass? Are the mini helicopter blades sharp enough to take out an eye or a finger? If so, I think I’d have to pass on the flying tuna.

In conclusion, this whole in-flight sushi business sounds about as practical as a pizzacopter.
