Apparently, North Dakota is the Booziest State, While Virginia is the Most Sober

According to this chart from Inforum, North Dakota has a bar for every 1,620 people, which presumably includes minors, old people, and other teetotalers. In other words, if you want to get your drink on without having to swim through hoards of people, go to North Dakota, since that’s the state with the highest number of bars per capita.

That could be due to North Dakota’s diminishing population, sure. But more likely it’s the fact that people in North Dakota have to drink more to forget they’re in North Dakota, and it’s really cold. Does that sound ridiculous? Check out the other top-ranking per capita drinkers: Montana, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Nebraska. In short, drinking has less to do with social habits, and more to do with awful weather.

Read the full report here (and click through the interactive infographic), or else laugh at Virginia, which would have to cram 64,773 folks into its pubs every night. If Virginians were into that sort of thing.
