Minecraft Pickaxes can now Officially do Everything, Including Open a Real Life Beer

Minecraft, it’s a video game that from my understanding, involves players building constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world.

One of the main tools in the storyline, a pickaxe, leads the way to a lot of the game’s activities — and just as the Minecraft possibilities are curiously endless, they’ve gone a step further, by releasing an officially licensed Pickaxe Bottle Opener.

The 5″ x 3.75″ bottle opener is fixed with a small hole and loop so you can hang it by your bar, and comes with a sexy little branded box for gifting. ($19.99 @ Amazon)

I received one of these from the wife for Christmas. Great look, very heavy weight to it with an extremely firm build quality. It is textured to have the feel of the pixel design and could be used to hack through some materials if one really felt inclined to do so in shenanigans that tend to occur once said beer is open and has been consumed in quantity. The one thing it really doesn’t do well, is its primary job of opening bottles. The tooth included in the design is too short to pry in a single use as every other cheap opener is designed to do. I tend to have to pry from 2 to 3 locations as it releases before applying enough force to break the seal.
