Cake Batter Flavor Trend Continues, Dairy Queen Announces a Confetti Cake Blizzard

If you’re the person responsible for creating frozen desserts for a major food company in the past couple months, chances are you’ve topped it with bacon, turned it into a shade of Red Velvet, or in the case of Dairy Queen’s May Blizzard of the Month, you infuse it with nostalgic birthday cake.

Of all the dessert trends, one of the hottest in recent memory aside from bacon and red velvet, seems to be the use of birthday cake flavors. OREO brand just released their second birthday cake-filled cookie within months of each other, Yogurtland launched a Cupcake Batter flavor and now Dairy Queen is adding to the momentum with a Confetti Cake Blizzard.

DQ’s new flavor features moist white cake pieces and confetti frosting blended with the brand’s creamy vanilla soft serve. You have the month of May to try out Dairy Queen’s take on the birthday cake trend.

I vote for kill the trend now!  This one does not appeal to me at all. Gross–not a real flavor! Fake vanilla with crappy frosting from a can is what my taste buds imagine this will taste like.

Wow. Okay, time for some good chocolate to get the nasty crinkles out of my mouth.
