Fast Food Ads: Do They Live Up to the Hype?

How many times have you sat in front of a TV, saw a fast food commercial, and hopped into your car to pick up that tasty burger only to discover it falls flat on the satisfaction scale? Were your expectations too high? Nope, you’ve just been another sheep led astray by the evil shepard known as “False Advertising.”

Dario D. released a series of images taken he took showing what you see on TV and the best case scenario of what you can possibly get from fast food restaurants. The visual comparison definitely showcases a the interesting contrast in actual products vs. the amount of time gone into prettying up and doctoring advertising materials.

Here are a few of the ones he took:

The photos were taken at the best angles possible with lighting that matched the original ad images.

So once again, reality has led to another disappointment created by the media.

One may not comment on Dario’s site, but I wish he would do Sonic.  It is the only place I have ever been where the photos on the menu board are WORSE than the actual product.

OMG so you are saying that commercials over-hype products and make them look better than they really look when you buy them?

This is breaking news! I must tell everyone!  Serisouly? **yawn**

I agree with all the above examples except for the Big Mac.

I get 3 or 4 Big Macs each month from different McDos, most times the burger is actually put together really well, it’s almost like the food fabricators back there care about the Big Macs more than other sandwiches.  I would dare say that 7 times out of 10, it’s almost like the sandwich was put together with love.  Plenty of the shredded lettuce even stays on the burger and is cold and crisp on the hot steamy patties, the cheese just starting to wilt.

I like this post.  It always pisses me off after seeing the ads and then getting the burger at the store.
