Popular Southern California Restaurant Chain Announces an “Orange Chicken” Burger

Slater’s 50/50, the hot new burger concept out of Southern California that popularized a signature meat patty made of 50% beef and 50% bacon, has just launched revealed their burger of the month for January and the subsequent new year — the Orange Chicken Burger.

Known for their fun and inventive burgers, this new limited-time menu addition features crispy strips of orange chicken topped with sweet coleslaw, roasted red peppers, grilled pineapple, green onions and Sriracha mayo. Yes, we know it’s not a “burger,” but the concept is so interesting we’ll overlook that small bit of confusion at the possibility of a fun new taste.

Chinese food in a burger? Count me in for a trial run!

The $10.95 option is available at three of the chain’s California locations in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and San Diego.

If concocting this vittle I would keep the sauce but omit the typical breading upon the chicken when offered in the typical manner in an Oriental food joint.

Breading AND a bun is simply too much bread.

And I would consider using a chicken patty without breading to assist with eating the sandwich.

Separate chunks of chicken will likely result in messy eating and, perhaps, lead to the use of a spork or other eating implement… perhaps your fingers that are likely carriers of bacteria.

The idea/concoction is unique but I fear the folks behind the idea do not “think through” their ideas as completely as is possible.
