The “W” — Wendy’s Newest Burger to Debut in December

Scheduled for release in December, Wendy’s is introducing another burger to their menu known as The W. The burger will feature two 2.25 ounce beef patties, two slices of American cheese, pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and a savory, signature sauce, all between a buttered, toasted bun. Priced at $2.99, the W lands itself right in the middle between its value menu items and their premium Hot ‘N Juicy cheeseburgers.

Wendy’s CEO, Emil Brolick, is optimistically looking forward with the company’s higher-quality products to put them “at the very high end” of fast-food restaurants. With the end of 2011 coming to a close, Wendy’s still has plenty more up its sleeves as the new year rolls around, and is putting its money on their new products to bring back the success that the company has had in its past.

Be on the lookout this December for the W, and expect to hear about more new menu items in the months coming.

My local Wendy’s already has the W on its menu, and I tried it yesterday. Tasted fine, but I’m confused by the pricing. The standard quarter-pound cheeseburger is priced higher, while the W actually contains slightly more meat and all the same toppings. The only difference I can see is the sauce.

    When
asked why they named their newest burger offering “The W”, a spokesman
for Wendy’s responded, “Well, with this burger, we anticipate initially
that most people will love it. Then after a tedious tenure, most will
realize that it’s not really that good. Eventually, this burger will
become so despised that even years after it is off the menu, people will
still be blaming all of their problems on it.”
