Chocolate Covered Bugles

Not sure where y’all are at in terms of your snacking game, but for me, I hadn’t thought or heard about Bugles chips for years. For those unfamiliar, Bugles are a corn chip snack from General Mills, with the name stemming from their odd and unique cone shape. Our friend Becky has propositioned us with a wonderful new way to enjoy these treats, under a new alias: Chocolate Covered Bugles.

The ingredient list is short, consisting of Bugles and baking bark. By simply melting the chocolate, dipping the cones in and letting them chill, Becky had a recipe fashioned up in no time. Crunchy, sweet, think Bugles might officially add it to their growing flavor-list?

I’ve had the Caramel Bugles that they came out with last year, I can see how FB friend Becky could be inspired. Good picture too, there’s an appealing harmony.
The unique airy-crunchy texture (deep-fried styrofoam is the most accurate I could describe the texture, I do mean that in an endearing way) lends itself well to the caramel coating, as I imagine it would chocolate. Bugles are also plenty salty which makes for a really tasty sweet & salty combo – although in the caramel variety that Bugles puts out, the ones with a lighter coating taste better than the ones that are completely drowned in caramel. But I suppose that’s just a personal taste-thing, like whether someone dips an Oreo, or full-on dunks it.
