Epic Kaukau Time is the Hawaiian Response to Epic Meal Time

Chalk it up, yet another Epic Meal Time offspring has hit the web, this time led by a group of hefty Hawaiians calling their show Epic Kaukau Time. In their debut effort the crew has cooked up an epic manapua (barbecue pork-filled bun) that racks up 460g of fat and 13,301 calories. The show’s aesthetic and music follows the general Epic Meal Time established rhetoric, with a lower third calorie and fat counter using a familiar font.

In regards to the creation they put together on screen, it does look rather delicious. Showcasing that steamed buns can be filled with things other than just pork and hard-boiled eggs, the group has combined bacon, pork dumplings, Spam musubi, onions, mushrooms, dried orange peels, lap cheong, ground pork, chai siu, fried noodles, steamed rice cakes, Funyuns with the entire dough-wrapped conglomerate based in a Jones Soda – haw flake mix.

Is the world ready for more Epic Meal Time offspring, or is the off-beat calorie-laden original enough to go around? In our opinion, keep them coming. At least the offspring are acknowledging where they got their inspiration from, and as a result, the foodie community receives a wide array of interesting new recipes.
