Arby’s Officially Unveils the “Angus Three Cheese & Bacon”

Late February we got word that certain Arby’s locations had added some an Angus Three Cheese & Bacon sandwich. Today, we are privvy to more information on this product, along with some more enticing product shots. The sandwich utilizes premium, lean, freshly sliced cuts of angus beef alongside three different cheeses on an Italian style roll.

Just got a coupon for this (buy the sandwich, get a free fry and soda). Gonnagetit today! I’m curious about the difference in taste that the Angus delivers… the regular roast beef is a processed pressed beef “loaf”, but I think still manages to be tasty in a cheap way. A little depth of flavor to the beef would be welcome, even if it is drowned in several layers of cheese goo. Looking at the picture, the sandwich seems to be begging for some sauteed onions. Maybe I’ll bring some caramelized onions in a ziploc in my pocket to top it off.

So, this raises a question : if you were sitting in an Arby’s and you saw the guy in the booth next to you pull a baggie with some caramelized onions out of his pocket and put them on his sandwich, then he offered you some, …. would you accept?

Hello, I just took advantage of this deal now. I’m half way through the sandwich. It DOES NOT look AT ALL like the picture… the Roast Beef is kinda dry the cheese and “sauce” does make a good sandwich. The bacon, a joke. Looks like that precooked bacon you get out of a microwave. =/ Oh well.

The food designer that created the promotional sandwich pic really earned his money…. I think that picture is responsible for keeping this sandwich on the minds of anyone who sees it.

Sidenote: I saw an interesting feature somewhere on food design (for marketing) – to create sanwiches/burgers that look like the are stacked up and so full, they press each layer onto a standing skewer one layer at a time, so that the weight of the ingredients and gravity don’t compress the ingredients down. It keeps all the layers of the sandwich fluffed up.

** Speaking of fluffing,… please forgive me for this…. I suppose it can be said they actually have sandwich fluffers for food porn. **
