Carl’s Jr: Big Country Breakfast Burrito
    October 30th, 2008 | Eats | By: Staff

This new breakfast burrito from Carl’s Jr has absolutely no shame. Along with the picture and commercial that was included in the press release from our friends over at CKR, they made a point to let us know that it has 770 calories and 47 grams of fat. You do get 31 grams of protein in the mix, so the world is not all bad! Stuffed with eggs, all three breakfast meats, hash browns and sausage gravy, this a burrito that definitely doesn’t play into the Mexican stereotype. Though prices vary from location to location, expect to pay $2.69, or $4.49 for a combo, which includes hash rounds and coffee. Check out one of the commercials from their advertising campaign after the jump:

    Hong Kong Express
    October 30th, 2008 | Adventures | By: Staff

I definitely loves me some St. College. Anyone from Orange County, particularly the area I grew up in around Anaheim/Fullerton/Brea knows that St. College is one of the backbone streets in our neighborhood. It’s littered with banks, shopping centers, and lies…lies…lies! As you can see above, that is a neon sign hanging in the window of “Hong Kong Express”. While nothing inside (besides drinks) was actually priced at a dollar, there was a time, as a child, I remember my mother taking me to this very establishment and we ordered meals for everyone and we indeed only paid 1 dollar a plate. I guess times have changed, but one thing has truly stayed consistent…and that is the amazingness of this place. We’ve got adventure and plenty pictures galore, so read on!

    The Barones Are Foodbeasts
    October 30th, 2008 | Features | By: Staff

It’s always entertaining to note Foodbeasts in our day-to-day observances of popular culture. Today I bring you the Barone family, the fictional cast of characters in the Emmy Award Winning show, “Everybody Loves Raymond”. For those unfamiliar, Ray Romano’s character, Ray Barone, is a man married to a wife who can’t cook and lives across the street from his two intrusive and annoying parents. One thing that is interesting to note, while the entire narrative is constructed by the comedic outcomes of family interplay, one of the driving forces behind the show’s character developments revolves around food. Here are a few choice short clips to enjoy! Make sure find a re-run time and get in tune with the Barone family!
