Krispy Kreme Ice Cream: “Kool Kreme”
    September 28th, 2008 | Eats | By: Staff

    [thanks newstribune]

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts became a house hold name with those fabulous donuts. Fried carbs? A tried and true recipe for success. Now Krispy Kreme is putting their bets on another sugary treat: soft serve ice cream.

In several test stores across the country, the frozen treats are being marketed under the tag “Kool Kreme.” The soft serve bar offers cones, shakes, sundaes, floats, and “Frenzees,” a blended treat similar to the Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Each Kool Kreme also comes with a toppings bar, complete with fresh fruit, hot fudge, caramel, butterscotch and candy bars like Butterfinger and Snickers.

Two-topping sundaes go for $2.59, cones for $1.79, shakes for $2.49 and $2.89, and floats for $1.89 and Frenzeez for $1.89.

What about ice cream covered donuts?!

Radiant Fryer Attempts to Make Fast Food Healthier
    September 28th, 2008 | Eats | By: Staff

Apparently fast food is fried twice, which is a process I was naiively unaware of. A Purdue professor is shown above testing a radiant frying method in order to bypass the second stage of frying. Neat?

Today you can eat in style, even if you live in a college dorm room or on the streets…because if you can piece together $3.59 and transport to your nearest IKEA, you can find yourself on some quality caviar for an extreme fraction of the price! Snickers V.I.P. Like Me
    September 27th, 2008 | Eats | By: Staff

A little over a week ago we shared the news about a really sweet sweepstakes from Snickers and EA Sports. They are giving away 17 V.I.P. Super Bowl weekend vacation packages, complete with travel and accommodations, access to hot parties as well as a pair of tickets to the championship game in Tampa Bay.

Geovanny, a designer for this gnarly giveaway hit me up and shared some webisodes that Snickers has put together to promote the contest. Super Bowl Champ Michael Strahan is the leading man in all the episodes, and he is definitely hilarious. Obviously the man is living the good life after winning himself a ring. We knew he was beast on defense, but who knew he had so many smooth moves on the dance floor?!

Keep up with Strahan’s comedy and all the Snicker’s V.I.P. Like Me webisodes here.

    Olive Garden Flatbread Appetizers
    September 27th, 2008 | Hit-or-Miss | By: Staff

The Old World-inspired Italian chefs at the Olive Garden have designed two new Flatbread Appetizers. These new flat breads are in interpretation of a Northern Italian Sandwich made with Piadini, a classic Italian flat bread with a soft middle and slightly crispy crust. Piadini means “thin bread” and is commonly sold as a street food in Emilia-Romagna, a region in Italy. The Piadini is sometimes grilled to order and filled with a variety of fillings.
