    Grand Theft Taco
    July 31st, 2008 | Eats

A few months back, a group of individuals video taped themselves scamming their local Del Taco in order to get some free food. A few months after that, all three stars of the You Tube video were arrested. I’m not sure which is more funny, the fact that they spent all that time and effort to get a free lunch? Or the immense charges brought upon by the police? Or lastly…how the above news broadcast keeps going beyond their news reporting duties and “slyly” referring to the star as a fat ass. I’m pretty sure we were fairly behind on this story, but since it’s new to me, I hope it’s new to a good number of you all as well. Either way, the original video of the scam is available after the jump:

    Dinner Impossible: Good Bye Irvine
    July 31st, 2008 | Eats

Food Network personality chef Robert Irvine has served his last mission, as Food Network has apparently not renewed the man’s contract for the latest season of the hit show “Dinner Impossible”. Reports have surfaced regarding the authenticity of the Chef’s bold resume, and the TV squad reports, “Multiple claims by Irvine, including creating Princess Diana’s wedding cake, cooking for White House dinners, being knighted by the queen, and more, have turned out to be tall tales.” For those unfamiliar with “Dinner Impossible”, it is a show on the Food Network station that pits the chef (now Ohio chef Michael Symon) against near impossible feats, which usually include cooking for hundreds/thousands of people, all while being under the scrutiny of a ticking clock. New commercials and statements from Food Network have begun to introduce the 2007 winner of The Next Iron chef, Ohio restaurant owner Michael Symon as the new host to carry on the legacy. July 31st, 2008 | Eats

Sonics, also known as “America’s Drive In”, has a new addition to its endlessly expanding and diverse menu. As described, the Fried Ice Cream Blast, is “a creamy, crunchy blend of of vanilla soft serve, caramel, cinnamon crisps and whipped topping.” I surely hope you’re on an iPhone reading this, driving up to a Sonics…because that would be proper.

    Chapter 7 for Bennigan’s Chain
    July 30th, 2008 | Eats

First a sluggish economy, now this. It seems like the end of July 2008 is the bearer of bad news. Founded in 1976, Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern has just recently made public that all of their 310 locations are to be closed. There is no solid information if every restaurant, depending on the terms of the individual contracts/ownerships will close. (Thx FoodFacts)
