Actor, stand-up comic, and TV game show host Drew Carey is placing one heck of an order at his favorite pizzeria. According to the Associated Press, Carey ordered 45 large pizzas from Antonio’s in his hometown of Ohio for delivery…to Los Angeles. The pizzas were ordered as a celebration for the season finale of the Carey’s CBS game show “The Price is Right.” The pizzas alone will set Carey back $450, and the way gas is nowadays, who knows how much the delivery will cost. While everybody is chirping about how food and gasoline cost to much nowadays, this guy goes and orders 45 large pies from 2000 miles away. Very nice!

    The Price of Perfect Chocolate
    June 26th, 2008 | By: Reggie | Eats

Candy manufacturer Mars is going on a quest to improve one of life’s favorite guilty pleasures: chocolate. The company is investing $10 million to unlock the secrets behind the chocolate genome. Yep, your eyes aren’t playing trick on you. $10 million. US. American. A genome is the entire genetic hereditary makeup of an organism, and by decoding this for chocolate, scientists are hoping to understand every aspect of the cocoa tree’s life. This information may help growers protect their crops from disease and combat pests. Read more about this epic quest at the Times Online.

Maybe someday the secrets unlocked in this quest for chocolate’s holy grail can make each plant produce tastier chocolate? Cocoa DNA crossed with graham cracker RNA and marshmallow nuclei? S’mores. We all know how delicious these are, but with modern science, we could be growing real ones in our backyard by next year. The possibilities are endless.

50 “Ain’t Down With” Taco Bell
    June 24th, 2008 | By: Elie | Eats

Apparently, in some unusual marketing attempt, representatives from Taco Bell had requested that rap artist 50 Cent change his name to 79, 89 or 99 cent for 24 hours in order to promote their value menu. Their hopes and terms were that upon the rapper’s name change, he would stop by any Taco Bell location, place an order and subsequently, Taco Bell would donate $10,000 to a worthy charity. Unfortunately for Taco Bell, 50 Cent was having none of that and disliked their “sleazy” marketing tactics. He promptly replied with, “When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: ‘We messed with the bull and got the horns!’” (Thx NME) Taco Bell messed with 50, and straight up got Del Scorcho’d. Did I just say that?

    Choice Burgers
    June 22nd, 2008 | By: Elie | Eats

During my high school years, Choice Burgers was one of the memorable eateries that provided a safe haven for my friends and I to avoid drugs, alcohol, and 3rd period Trigonometry. Following our Warped Tour excursion, we decided we couldn’t make it back to our homes in Anaheim and Fullerton without a quick snack, and luckily Choice Burgers was there to help us out.

    Daunting?

    Que?

    Me gusta.

    Food makes us happy.

I want to drip on you.

    Steak and egg burrito.

    Carne Asada burrito.

    You mad Bazant?

    Salsa burrito with chicken.

If you’re ever in the Brea area doing a little shopping, or, whatever they may do in Brea, make sure to check out Choice Burgers, they’ll treat you right.
