France Limits Ketchup in Schools
Tragedy has struck the country of France as a new government regulation is only allowing ketchup to be served with French Fries in French school cafeterias, as the Los Angeles Times reports.
If that wasn’t bad enough, French Fries are only served once a week! And that’s including college cafeterias. French ministry of agriculture issued the ban in an effort to cut down fatty foods and encourage more vegetables in student diets.
Christophe Hebert, chairman of the National Association of Directors of Collective Restaurants, told The Times of London, “We absolutely have to stop children from being able to serve those sorts of sauces to themselves with every meal. Children have a tendency to use them to mask the taste of whatever they are eating.”
I wonder what kind of uproar this would cause in the states? I know ketchup has gotten me through plenty in elementary school. And high school. And college. Heck, I’m eating tuna melt with ketchup right now!
